Dear Editor
Dr. Tayebi Meyboudi’s response [1] to our tribute [2] was a solemn and explicit description of Dr. Tabatabai who taught him the complexities of neuroanatomy as a student and the details of practical neurosurgery as a resident. In describing it, he has correctly alluded to the innumerable qualities of Dr.Tabatabai through his excellent narration. Dr. Tayebi Meyboudi has exquisitely drawn a picture of his mentor (Ustad) with absolute precision and dexterity, and owes his present day position to his mentor’s inspiratory drive, devotion and dedication.
Dr. Tayebi Meyboudi rightly declares that Dr.Tabatabai inculcated in him the innate drive and love for neurosurgery which finally culminated in propelling him to pursue neurosurgery as his final profession and career thus pursuing the footsteps of his teacher and mentor. We would like to commend Dr. Tayebi Meyboudi for writing this letter as a token of the services that his mentor rendered in the field of neurosurgical practice with an indomitable will and dedication.
Bravo, Dr. Tayebi Meyboudi, it was a laudable piece of write-up and we enjoyed reading every word of it.
In the end, we would like to add that Dr.Tabatabai always sternly scanned everything in the operating room with an eagle’s eye upon his entrance not only to fathom the complexities of the operation but at the same time to ascertain that the TITANIC of which he was the captain sails safely to the shore. Dr.Tabatabai was regarded as the acme of intelligence and refinement and we should be permitted to call him the “Harvey Cushing of Iran”.
